Australia
:
New South Wales is the oldest state of Australia. The coastline is very populated and has beautiful beaches and extensive forests. To the contrary the hinterland is barren and dry, and is sparsely populated. We start our trip in Sydney, the capital city of New South Wales. Towards the cities-west we visit the Blue Mountain National Park, the first of several natureparks which we will see on our trip. In the Hunter Valley we enjoy some winetasting at one of the more than sixty vineyards. The son of a Dutch migrant showed us the tricks of gold-fossicking. In Tamworth we learn all about the famous Australian country and western music. We are going in search for places where history and culture of Aborigines can be found like in the Aboriginal Culture Centre or Umbarra Culture Centre and Kangarra Aboriginal Art Centre. A special attraction is the Western Plain Zoo in Dubbo, one of the most animal friendly one in the world. Of course we visit the national capital city Canberra with its big modern buildings. The most impressive experience is the great Australian emptiness, the Outback.
