South Island

Together with Australia and a number of islands in the South Pacific Ocean, New Zealand makes up part of Oceania. It consists of two large islands and a number of smaller ones. For this film we scout the South Island and begin our trip in Christchurch, just like many other tourists. After a short visit to Port Lyttelton and a drive through a green hilly landscape we reach Akaroa, well known for the many dolphins that swim here just off the coast. Ashburton in the heart of the Canterbury Plains is our next goal and we are also going to fly over the Alps and Mt. Cook National Park. Via  Lake Pokaki and Lake Benmore we arrive back on the east coast at Oamaru. We have a look around Duneden and the Otago Peninsula. After that we continue further through the southeastern coastal territory with high cliffs and very old forrests. After Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound on the west coast we reach Queenstown on Lake Wakatipu. Earlier this regeon was struck by goldfever and we too became smitten. We fly over the Westland National Park and walk through the Abel Tasman National Park. At Kaikoura we go swimming with the dolphins in the sea. And with that we literally "rounded off " this fascinating Island.
