The South of Vietnam

We begin our trip through the southern part of Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh [ Saigon ]. It is a hectic city with 9 million riders which makes the traffic utter chaos. For all that the city has much allure and has now  become a tourist destination. We make a daytrip to the Cu Chi tunnels, 35km outside of the city and also to the Cao Dai Temple of Tay Ninh. Next we visit the fertile Mekong Delta and from there we sail through the labynith of rivers and canals. Life here centres on and around the water. In Vinh Long and Can Tho we visit the large floating markets. We leave Saigon behind and catch our breath in the bathing place of Mui Ne, where wind and kite surfers battle with the ever present wind. After a visit to the high dunes of Mui Ne we go inland, to Dalat which lies in the Highlands at a height of 1500 metres. Because of the high altitude there is always a springlike climate in this area. The surroundings are strewn with waterfalls. We turn back to the coast and end our trip through the southern part of Vietnam in Nhatrang, the largest swimming place in Vietnam.
