Kaapstad - Johannesburg

South Africa is a fascinating country to visit.  We begin our journey in Cape Town, a lively town situated on the bottom of Table Mountain.  In our comfortable camper, we head to the peninsula south of Cape Town to look at the penguins of Simon’s Town and the beautiful Cape houses in Kommetjie.  The wine district around Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek was next on our list.  Whilst driving to Hermanus and Gansbaai, we see lots of walrusses and white sharks.  Passing through Karoo we visit the ostriches in Oudsthoorn.  The stunning Garden Route brings us to Port Elizabeth where we visit Addo Elephant Park.  Via East London, we arrive at Transkei, the birthplace of Nelson Mandela. The following destination is Lesotho and from here we drive through the Golden Gate National Park on route to Blood River. The most infamous battle in South Africa was fought at Blood River.  We pass the Drakensberg on our way to the Wild Coast, north of Durban.  Shakaland is next and we travel through Swaziland on the way to Kruger National Park.  De Blyde River Canyon brings us in the direction of Pretoria and we finish our journey with a visit to the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg.
